Opinionated and Loving It!

I am a 40-something professional woman with a loving husband and a wonderful college-aged daughter. I am opinionated and always have been. Some things I have strong feelings on and others will be all fluff. You don't have to agree with me, but I appreciate this forum with which to express my opinions. So, those who don't like my opinions can find another blog to read - it won't hurt my feelings....really.

Illinois Pun for the Day

Japanese doctor says, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can
take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him out looking
for work in six weeks.'

A German doctor says, 'That is nothing. We can take a lung out of one
person, put it in another, and have him out looking for work in four weeks.'

A British doctor says, 'In my country medicine is so advanced that we can
take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have both of
them out looking for work in two weeks.'

The Canadian doctor, not to be outdone, interjected, 'You guys are way
behind. We took a man with no brains, sent him to Illinois where he became
Governor, and now half the state is out looking for work.'

LOL! Amen to that!!!

If Men Wrote Advice Columns

Walter's Problem Page

Dear Walter:

I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work, leaving my husband in the house watching TV as usual. I hadn't gone more than a few hundred yards down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help.

When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was parading in front of the wardrobe mirror dressed in my underwear and high-heel shoes, and he was wearing my makeup.

I am 32, my husband is 34 and we have been married for twelve years. When I confronted him, he tried to make out that he had dressed in my lingerie because he couldn't find his own underwear. But when I asked him about the makeup, he broke down and admitted that he'd been wearing my clothes for six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him.

He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. I don't feel I can get through to him anymore. Can you please help?

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sheila Usk

Dear Sheila:

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber. I hope this helps.

Karl Marx for President

(1) "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
(2) "It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few, and for the few...... And to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity."
(3) "(We) ....can't just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people."
(4) "We have to build a political consensus and that requires people to give up a little bit of their own turf in order to create this common ground."
(5) "I certainly think the free-market has failed."
(6) "I think it's time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in (the) entire economy that they are being watched."

Now you might think these were the famous words of the Father of communism, Karl Marx........
....and you would be on the right track in thinking so.....but you would be wrong......
These pearls of socialist/Marxist wisdom are from non other than our very own, home-grown Marxist.........

Food for Thought

There is a wonderful woman that posts "Food for Thought" emails each day at work. This was the thought for today....

Adult ADD?

Oh my heavens! I swear I have adult ADD...I can't seem to focus on anything right now. I have many interests and when I put my mind to one, I do it well. However, when I'm feeling like I am now, I tend to split my attention over several projects at once.

We need to finish our basement bedroom as our nephew is coming to live with us, so that's on my mind. I'm trying to learn to knit and start crocheting again, so I'm buying yarn and downloading patterns like crazy. I also want to get back into sewing, so I'm buying patterns and refreshing my supplies, etc. Yet, when I get home from work, all I want to do is veg. I tell myself that it's too late in the date to start a new project, so I don't.

Maybe I shouldn't listen to myself any more...although I have some pretty fantastic ideas and opinions on things....even if I do say so myself. :-)
